Colección: Rose Petal by Alex Krueger

Made during Krueger's residency at the Corning Museum of Glass, Rose Petal is a series of blown vessels shaped by the image of falling petals. Clear glass gathers are draped and pressed into each form while hot, settling against the body like petals that have landed and begun to dissolve into it. Color pools at the neck and fades through the body, from smoke and taupe to blush and deep rose, so each piece seems caught mid-change.

The collection marks a departure from the rebellious edge of Krueger's broader practice. Almost as an extension of the rose tattoo on Krueger's head, he turns toward a quieter, more sentimental register, exploring beauty, decay, and transmutation: the moment something falls away and becomes part of something else.

Alex Krueger is a Brooklyn-based glass artist with nearly 20 years of experience. His practice explores glass as a fractured language, merging hot-sculpted parts, blow molds, and faux mosaic techniques to create layered, improvisational forms. Drawing from subcultural aesthetics and industrial materials, Krueger’s work examines visibility, structure, and control through distortion and assembly. His Scorched Earth series is a meditation on how new technologies—facial recognition, autonomous vehicles, and our closely held personal devices— embed systems of surveillance within their function that influence our behavior.

Focusing his time in the Studio's hot shop, Krueger used his residency to continue to explore and push the boundaries of his practice. The Studio's wide array of glassmaking equipment, facilities, and community of talented glass workers, gave him the opportunity to further develop the scale and ambition of his practice.

Krueger began working in glass during high school and continued his studies in glass at Bowling Green State University. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Chrysler Museum of Art (VA), Vertical Gallery (IL), Habitat Gallery (MI), and Stream Gallery (Hong Kong). In 2025, he completed a residency at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio in conjunction with a solo exhibition. He taught at Firebird Community Arts (Chicago) and has also taught at UrbanGlass and Brooklyn Glass, maintaining a practice grounded in collaboration and experimentation.
